Place-based graphics and signage connect the James A. Buzzard River Education Center to the river, its ecology, and the work of the James River Association.
We designed signage and environmental graphics that make the building itself a teaching tool, connecting students and visitors to the James River through local species, river health, and place-based stories.
A large painted mural of the James River stretches across the exterior wall, identifying major cities along its course. Inside, scientific illustrations, native species, and river-themed graphics extend the educational experience throughout the center.
An 18-foot River Health Meter makes daily river conditions visible and easy to understand.
Wall and glass graphics depict local species at their actual scale in the corridor and at the entries to the River and Shore Labs.
A donor wall uses images of local species to connect recognition with the James River Association’s mission.
