A distinctive visual identity connects CODE’s architecture, entrepreneurial mission, and place in downtown Charlottesville.
We developed the brand identity, wayfinding, and signage for the Center of Developing Entrepreneurs (CODE), carrying the identity from the building’s architecture into the spaces people use every day. The design balances the building’s angular geometry with softer forms, creating a visual language that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.
The identity takes cues from the building’s distinctive floor plan and its stepped, spiraling form. We paired the angular logo with custom rounded typography and a palette inspired by the aged bronze and antique brass used throughout the building. Patterns and metallic tones extend the identity across signage and other applications, creating consistency between the brand and the built environment.
The logo references the building’s floor plan and the idea of “stepping up” through developing skills, experience, and connections.
An angled graphic pattern extends the visual identity across branded materials and signage.
Custom signage uses a range of materials, scales, and applications to integrate the brand with the architecture and interiors.
