A lobby exhibit celebrates the history, culture, and contributions of Black Roanoke residents through stories, photography, and design.
AccessU brought us in to develop an exhibit for Melrose Plaza’s lobby, a community center serving Northwest Roanoke. We organized photography and content into a cohesive visual story highlighting significant residents, past and present.
The 30-foot curved exhibit combines wall graphics with dimensional panels, using brand colors to organize featured individuals by theme. We worked closely with the fabricator to address structural challenges and create a durable display within the project’s timeline and budget.
The exhibit highlights community members whose stories reflect the history and culture of Black Roanoke.
Color-coded themes help visitors quickly understand the different stories represented throughout the exhibit.
Positioned in the lobby, the exhibit welcomes visitors and makes the community’s history part of the everyday experience.
