Flexibility Through Design

The design team worked with the Greater Richmond ARC to scope a signage package to recognize the donors and create a wayfinding system for visitors. The donor recognition was combined into the wayfinding system to minimize signs around the park and maximize the budget.

Wellness Through Wayfinding

The park is divided into eight different and distinct “Wellness Areas.” Each Wellness Area features a wayfinding monument that explains the type of activities or equipment found in that specific location and lists the names of the donors that provided for that equipment.

Focus on Inclusion

The wayfinding color system for each area extends to the play equipment, fostering navigation and supporting placemaking. Special attention to the inclusion of Braille beyond ADA requirements ensures the use of the signs by all abilities.
