Cultivating Identity
When UVA decided to renovate the McCormick Road Houses, their primary freshmen housing complex which was built in the 1950s and houses nearly 1,400 students, Iconograph was tapped to design an overall identity for the revamped complex as well as a unique graphic identity for each of its ten “houses,” all while maintaining a strong visual connection to the rest of the university.
Creating Connections
We assigned each building a color scheme and graphic pattern motif influenced by the university’s brand style guide. Graphics throughout the buildings serve dual purposes—providing practical wayfinding in central circulation spaces and stairs and introducing newcomers to UVA student life with large-scale photographic murals of iconic UVA imagery.
