Commitment to Students

With the ongoing renovation of many of their outdated student housing buildings, the University of Virginia’s Housing and Residence Life (HRL) Department is dedicated to updating residential experiences as well. Part of each renovation includes the integration of graphics related to the university’s brand but unique to that residential community.

Creating a Community

We created an overall graphic brand for each residential community and used shifts in patterns and colors to differentiate building within that community. The brand approach focused on inspiring first-year students through the values and imagery of UVA while creating a strong connection to their direct residential micro-community. Careful attention was given to upholding the UVA brand, complementing the unique architecture of each community, and providing the aesthetic and durability that HRL was seeking.
