Iconograph is a creative studio that designs meaningful, branded environments that orient, educate, and inspire users. We are a woman-owned Environmental/Experiential Graphic Design (EGD) firm in Charlottesville, Virginia. We support a culture of growth and ownership through transparency and meaningful collaboration. Iconograph has several exciting projects on the boards and is looking for a dedicated Production Artist to join our small multi-disciplinary team. At Iconograph, our mission is to improve the human experience through thoughtful visual communication. We believe that when visual communication is creatively incorporated into the built environment, people feel more connected to the world around them, evoking emotion, adding beauty, and encouraging learning.

Role Summary: Production Artist

This position works closely with both the 3D and 2D design teams to finalize and prepare design concepts into precise, print and fabrication-ready files. You will ensure that artwork is accurately scaled, formatted, and labeled for a variety of materials and production methods, including vinyl, dimensional lettering, architectural signage, and wallcoverings.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for typography, layout, and artwork production

  • Prepare production-ready files based on technical specifications and design intent

  • Ensure all artwork meets the specific requirements for various production methods by understanding material properties and limitations

  • Review and proof files for errors, consistency, and adherence to brand standards

  • Maintain organized file systems, layer structures, and naming conventions

  • Work closely with internal teams and fabricators to ensure production feasibility

  • Ensure signage meets applicable regulations and standards

  • Work with internal teams to review samples, shop drawings, and participate in site visits

Environment

This is an in-person role located in Charlottesville, Virginia

Full time/exempt

Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000, dependent on experience and qualifications

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in artwork production

  • Strong knowledge of 3D space, materials, and the built environment

  • Understanding of architectural scales and drawings

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills 

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Google applications and Sketchup

  • Proficiency in CADTools a plus, but not required
